Arguably one of the biggest sales that made non-fungible tokens go viral was the sale of Jack Dorsey’s first Tweet. The former Twitter CEO auctioned the first tweet he made on the Microblogging platform about 15 years ago. The Tweet from March 2016 which read, “just setting up my twttr” sold for $2.9 million on the Valuables platform. This record sale sparked widespread media awareness and curiosity around non-fungible tokens. Dorsey revealed that he would convert the proceeds from the NFT sale to Bitcoin and donate it to a charity.
